i'm amazed! i just got to work and was handed an envelope by the office manager. he said "happy new year" and in it a dual membership to the Seattle Art Museum. wow. that is really exciting!

tonight is my volunteer night at siff. they are showing amarcord. i have never heard of this movie. apparently it won best foreign film at the oscar's in 1974. brian and i just watched 8 1/2 last night so i might just be fellini'd out.

lawrimore project is playing blow up on thursday night. the movie that introduced me to the yardbirds

and showing again at western bridge, anthony mccalls's installation "doubling back". what an exciting new year.

after dark

Greenpix Zero Energy Media Wall - The largest display of LED lights in the world! The wall is located in Beijing, China and is being built for an entertainment center that will be a part of the 2008 Olympic Games. I think this wall is a stunning display of where technology, sustainability, and art stand today. The wall is a completely self-sustainable feature that absorbs the suns energy through out the day and then lightens up at night. Supposedly the Greenpix wall can be seen from a kilometer away or for you non-metric friendly people that is the equivalent to about 17 football fields. Gorgeous!

It reminds me of an LED installation Brian and I saw at Lawrimore Project in the late fall of 2007. The Stranger's, Jen Graves, wrote a descriptive cover story about Susie J. Lee's exhibit, Refrain and not to mention an extensive history on Lawrimore Project. I must have experienced her installation called Rainshower (LED installation) something like four times. Take your time to check out the links, I've attached. Really great stuff!

On another note, I rode my bike today to Eric Smiley's place to get what seems like my bi-annual haircut...I should work on maintaining my hair style. I'm sure Regina could teach me a thing or two about that. Anyways, the point is that I rode my bike to his place on 12th and Olive and rode my freakin little 3-speed back all the way up the hill to my apartment. I rode it up to 13th and Olive, then turned left on 13th, then right on E Howell, then straight east on Howell all the way up to 17th and took a right all the way back to my house. The ride was tough and I had the bike on it's lowest gear but it made me happy. I've been thinking of selling my bike for a newer and improved bike but over the weekend I got so many compliments from strangers and other cool bike people that I want to keep it forever.
