best of 2008 - updated 1/18/08 at 2:18pm

okay, here it is! my favorite albums that i listened to and loved in 2008. i feel like the whole month of january is a grace period for year end lists that didn't make it on in december 2008.

fleet foxes - lp and ep
deerhunter - microcastle
deerhunter - weird era
blitzen trapper – furr
magnetic fields – distortion
atlas sound - let the blind lead those who can see but can't feel
altas sound - logos
bon iver - to emma, forever ago
ruby suns - sea lion
beach house - devotion
deerhoof - offend Maggie
sea and cake - car alarm
tv on the radio - dear science
dodos - visiter
plants and animals – s/t
the walkmen - you and me
vetiver - thing of the past

i'll be posting in this entry favorite songs from these albums or videos, pretty much anything i can find with audio to sample a song. enjoy!

the walkmen - "in the new year" from you & me

bows & arrows was a good record, i sold it to sonic boom. now i wish i kept it because this record is totally solid and now i'm kicking myself for not having both. these guys play at neumos on 1/24 and i just bought our tickets. i have not a reason to believe that this show will not disappoint.

beach house - "gila" from devotion

something you can wake up to without feeling like you want to fall back to sleep. beach house is playing with the walkmen at neumos on 1/24. a great combination of music i think for one bill.

deerhunter - "microcastle" from microcastle

this record is all i wanted to listen to during the fall. we saw deerhunter at neumos and i'd have to say it was the best rock show i've been to in ages! disco ball came down. mysterious long jams that make you think of a david lynch movie. , songs that make you want to rock out by blasting the speakers way up. to 11 if you will. this whole album is solid.

blizten trapper - "furr" from furr

this song and video is beautiful! the arts and craft effect makes me feel summer time, naps under a tree at volunteer park, the coming fall

apples in stereo - "open eyes" from new magnetic wonder

honorable mention (came out in early 2007 but didnt hear it until mid 2008) - reminds me of the roadtrip i took this summer with brian through northern california. we listened to this record alot, driving through the redwoods and on the coast. kinda makes me feel like i'm 16, in a good good way.
