tonight, siff movie #4. we are watching another documentary called garbage dreams. a movie about cairo's waste management system or lack thereof, relying on the city's slum residents to clean, in which an incredible 85% is recycled. is that a sentence? i don't know but i think this movie will be amazing!

on monday, julia and i tried (well 90% tried) to watch (500) days of summer with zooey deschanel. the line was long and sold out. the rush line was about 25 people deep and by the time we got there only a few were allowed in the theater. we were shut out. oh well...i'm banking on the movie coming out sometime in the fall. we left the egyptian almost more excited than when we arrived because now instead of spending $11 on a movie, we can get custard. the custard was good, different from molly moon's and certainly not comparable to any of their flavors. i will always be a patron of molly moon's but on the lazy days i may head for the custard house.

siff movie count: 3
art & copy - documentary
i'm gonna explode (mexico) - drama
all tomorrow's parties - documentary

oh my god, jimmy john’s sandwiches are so good! i just had one for lunch and damn. yum!

tonight i am riding my bike to golden gardens for chris pierson's bachelor fun times. we are grillin' and having a bonfire. yay. i will report back with pictures tomorrow.

oh and yesterday i took my first ride home on 1st ave to pike st up to capitol hill. for those not in seattle this is a very difficult situation because it's basically the heart of downtown seattle. i could hear the busses roaring behind me, thus lead me to having a mini-panic attack on 1st ave in front of the fancy dog store. could there be a worse place to have a panic attack? on the street, at 505pm, in front of the fancy dog shop....what recession!?! anyways, i recovered and continued on without a hitch and lots of encouragement from a workmate who was riding with me. much appreciated for sure.

this weekend, all my friends are heading out to the olympic peninsula for said bachelor's wedding. i can't wait. one i have never been to the peninsula and two chris and hillary are finally getting married. hooray for them.

rancho bravo

alright. i gave rancho bravo three tries. it's no good. tough asada, tasteless pollo, and the salsa. wow. what are they thinking? it's like dyed glue! i would have to say the best thing they have going for this place is the mole burrito. it's good but not amazing. i am just not impressed. everyone in seattle likes to flip their shit about new anything! and there is always a handful that have the highest opinions about these places.

i am one of them.

i am here to say it and i will say it again tacos el asadero on rainier ave s is by far the best.

a commentor on the stranger's blog, the slog, said it best

love it! and i can say something because i am mexican so i know better.

election night party times, "seattle holla!"

i'm so glad that so many people were out last night to document the magnificent events that happened in seattle (more specifically capitol hill) when barack obama was elected president of the united states...

after partying like this at my election night party

and like this in the streets just outside our party

i finally stumbled home at 2am and cried tears of joy, exhaustion, and relief.

a win for obama, a win like this, i have never felt so good.

me and molly

Oh my god, I love reading Slog! New Molly Moons storefront at 10th and Pike!!!! We just took Vera and Brett there last night for their last evening in Seattle. It was a decadent night filled with scoops of honey lavender, cardamom, mango sorbet, salted caramel, and the balsamic strawberry shake! YUM!

3 weeks until Brian and I leave for the North coast of California. I'm thrilled! We have a tent, sleeping bags, chairs, and utensils. All thanks to REI! We have camping spots in the Redwoods reserved and a hostel centrally located in San Francisco. Now Brian is in charge of looking for all the great restaurants and cafes to eat at. Yum!

Cherry Hill Block party is this Tuesday, August 5th. I'm really looking forward to this. Kitsy and I are planning a booth along with everyone else in our building. I made a sign today to post at the mailboxes on ideas for our booth.

Ideas
- bingo w/ prizes (folks who want to participate donate prizes)
- cake walk (folks in the bldg make cakes to donate) this one i really want to do!
- ice cream booth (folks donate toppings for the ice cream)

I want the cake walk to happen so bad. I would make my red velvet cake and a carrot cake or a vegan chocolate cake. Surely some vegans at the block party would appreciate that. So we will see what the building decides when they all cast their votes by August 1st. We are counting them the morning of August 2nd so everyone will have the weekend to prepare on what to bring or bake.

Tmrw Maeve is hosting a bon fire at Golden Gardens. I really want to grill some hot dogs. Yumm! No bun though! hahah. I did that at CHBP on Friday night and the hot dog vendor thought I was crazy so he put the dog on a bun anyways and I just picked up the weenie and dipped it in the cream cheese and ate the shit out of that dog. It was soo yummy! I hope I don't ever get tired of hot dogs. I told Brian when we first started talking on the phone that they are one of my most favorite foods. It's still true. I think growing up in Corpus where I had an amazing hot dog joint called Wienerschnitzel made it a lifetime favorite for me.

Hey chris!

Sorry we didn’t connect on the Fourth. We did our 2nd annual

bbq at the arboretum. It was great; I wish you could’ve came.

I hope all is well. Do you plan on going to Block party this year?

XO! ~Jess
