art walk

my attempt to get my co-workers out and about for extracurricular activities failed miserably. well that's not entirely true. i did get 2 co-workers to come to art walk with me. we visited the usually galleries. the opening of the new james harris gallery was fantastic! beautiful video installations that made my heart pound (i dont know why!?). this one in particular of a (paper?) airplane flying around and then through a tent. i wished i was high!

the animations were by a fellow named gary hill. also playing was a video of a two goats walking in circles. it was almost like watching those "sphere" desktop screen savers on your old microsoft computer. you know, the one that changed into a square, then a ball, then a spikey looking ball, then back to a square again. well the goats kept walking in circles but then would walk through each other. it was so strange.

Church and State, 2005

the star of the gallery was definitely mary quan knight, whose picture of a gun on a bed seriously never looked so sexy. tarantino must have seen her work before...
